Most innovative decorative glass project, residential

Glass Magazine Award 2012

Made of ½-inch slumped glass, the wall in this private residence in Castle Pines, Colo., features glass panels that are recessed in wood casing doors set with pivot hinges. The intent of the glass installation is to divide the home office and the rest of the house explains Steven Armijo of Interior Glass Design, which designed and installed the wall.

According to Armijo, "the most challenging aspect of the project was the design and layout of the glass pattern which involved going from a hand drawing to a CAD drawing, then to the glass fabricator for approval before the glass was slumped. We created the design and pattern for the wall, which was then fabricated by Verre Select in Montreal,” Armijo explains. “We actually had to fly to Canada to proof the pattern to make sure it was to our specifications. The owner was very adamant about having it a certain way.”
